Illinois licensees must put their license number in every advertisement (225 ILCS 447/35-15) and display the license at each place of business (35-5). IDFPR's file lists city, ZIP and county only, with no street address or phone.

California data comes from the Bureau of Security and Investigative Services' public license file (published monthly by the Department of Consumer Affairs); Illinois data from IDFPR's daily licensing file. We re-check both every week. Confirm the license on the state's own lookup before you sign.
